Timber Bike Store for Keeping Cycles Safe and Dry

This timber bike store is a robust, handmade building designed to keep bicycles, helmets, locks and cycling equipment dry, safe and organised, without taking up space inside a main garden shed. With double doors opening outwards for full-width access, you can wheel bikes in and out easily without lifting or manoeuvring them awkwardly through a narrow opening.

The compact dimensions make this timber bike store practical for most garden positions: 6ft wide, 3ft deep and 4'6ft high at the front, with the pent roof sloping to 4ft at the rear. It's designed as an open-floor building so bikes are wheeled straight onto your prepared base rather than over a threshold, which also makes it easier to clean out. The base itself should be firm, level and at least the size of the footprint, and concrete is recommended over slabs or gravel to ensure the building sits correctly for the life of the structure.

Construction and materials

The framework of the timber bike store uses 70 x 50mm rounded planed CLS timber. The roof and doors use 16 x 125mm matchboard (finished 12 x 120mm) and the shiplap cladding is 16 x 125mm (finished 12 x 120mm), all double nailed with stainless steel nails. All buildings are fitted with 24kg polyester charcoal felt, which significantly outlasts standard shed felt. The double door is fitted with traditional medium tee hinges, tamperproof screws, a brenton padbolt and tower bolts. A 70mm long throw 6 pin barrel lock from the GATEMATE range can be added to your basket and fitted at no extra charge.

Warranty

All our timber is pressure treated and guaranteed against rot and decay (fungi) for 10 years. To extend the life of your shed further, we recommend treating it with an appropriate exterior preservative per manufacturer guidelines. As authorised OSMO stockists, we recommend their UV Protection Oil, Natural Oil wood stain or Country Colour satin finish range.

Important considerations

Your base must be firm, level and at least the size of the shed floor. We always recommend concrete or slabs. Our installation teams use vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and will need direct vehicle access to your property for several hours. If you're in a controlled parking zone, please arrange a permit in advance. There must be no overhead obstructions such as branches, cables or arches. Please advise us of any issues before production so changes can be made in time.

If the assembly team considers the site unsuitable on the day and you choose to proceed, you accept responsibility for the structural integrity of the building and indemnify Worcester Timber Products against any future issues. If the team must leave before completion for reasons beyond their control, no refunds are applicable and additional charges may be levied.
