Garden Shed without Windows for Secure Outdoor Storage
The Martley is a heavy duty, handmade garden shed without windows, combining a clean pent roof profile with a single door and a fully enclosed build that's specifically designed with security in mind. Removing glazing from the design means anything stored inside isn't visible from outside, which significantly reduces the attraction to opportunist theft and is one of the most practical choices for a shed in an exposed or accessible position.
The Martley is built to store tools, garden equipment and outdoor items securely, not to function as a lit workspace. The fully enclosed construction also eliminates a potential weak point in the building envelope, keeping the interior more weathertight across the board.
Construction and materials
The framework uses 70 x 50mm rounded planed CLS timber for a smooth, professional interior finish. The floor is 22 x 125mm matchboard (finished 19 x 120mm), the roof and door use 16 x 125mm matchboard (finished 12 x 120mm), and the shiplap cladding is 16 x 125mm (finished 12 x 120mm), all double nailed with stainless steel nails. Every shed is fitted with 24kg polyester charcoal felt, which significantly outlasts standard shed felt. The single door opens outwards and is fitted with traditional medium tee hinges, tamperproof screws, a brenton padbolt and turn buttons. A 70mm long throw 6 pin barrel lock from the GATEMATE range can be added to your basket and fitted at no extra charge.
Sizing and installation
This garden shed without windows is available in 9 sizes from 8 x 4ft up to 10 x 8ft, with the single door available left or right hanging. Sizes are measured as gable end width followed by depth. All timber is pressure treated and carries a 15 year guarantee against rot and decay. We stock a range of OSMO timber treatment products to help preserve and extend the life of the building.
Complimentary installation is available to customers in B, CV, DY, GL, WR, WV and some HR postcodes. Priced from £854.40 to £2,124.00 depending on size, the Martley can be ordered online or by visiting our Worcestershire yard.
What is the difference between the Martley and the Hartlebury?
The Martley has a single door and is available in sizes from 8 x 4ft up to 10 x 8ft, while the Hartlebury has double doors and goes up to 30 x 10ft. Both have pent roofs and no windows, so the choice mainly comes down to the size needed and whether single or double door access suits your use.
Can windows be added to the Martley later if I change my mind?
The Martley is designed and manufactured as a windowless building, so adding windows retrospectively is not straightforward. If you think you may want windows in future, the Bredon offers the same pent roof construction with windows included from the outset.
Are bespoke sizes or enhancements available?
Yes, bespoke options and variations can be discussed. Please contact us before ordering if a standard size doesn't suit your space or if you have specific requirements.
How do the size measurements work?
Sizes are listed as gable end width followed by depth. A 10 x 6ft Martley is 10ft wide and 6ft deep. It's worth measuring your available space carefully and leaving a small clearance margin around the building for access and maintenance.
Warranty
All our timber is pressure treated and guaranteed against rot and decay (fungi) for 10 years. To extend the life of your shed further, we recommend treating it with an appropriate exterior preservative per manufacturer guidelines. As authorised OSMO stockists, we recommend their UV Protection Oil, Natural Oil wood stain or Country Colour satin finish range.
Important considerations
Your base must be firm, level and at least the size of the shed floor. We always recommend concrete or slabs. Our installation teams use vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and will need direct vehicle access to your property for several hours. If you're in a controlled parking zone, please arrange a permit in advance. There must be no overhead obstructions such as branches, cables or arches. Please advise us of any issues before production so changes can be made in time.
If the assembly team considers the site unsuitable on the day and you choose to proceed, you accept responsibility for the structural integrity of the building and indemnify Worcester Timber Products against any future issues. If the team must leave before completion for reasons beyond their control, no refunds are applicable and additional charges may be levied.
