Large Garden Workshop with Four Windows and Double Doors
The Hanbury is a heavy duty, handmade large garden workshop designed for those who need a genuinely substantial outbuilding: suitable as a workshop, storage building, studio or gym, and available in sizes going up to 12 x 30ft. With four framed PERSPEX windows, more than any other building in the WTP range, it delivers the closest thing to a proper work environment in terms of natural light, which is particularly important when using the space for detailed work, crafts or tasks that require good visibility across a large interior.
When choosing a large garden workshop, four windows versus three is a meaningful difference at this scale: a 10 or 12ft wide building that is 26-30ft long has a great deal of floor area, and additional windows ensure the far reaches of the interior receive useful natural light rather than relying entirely on the glazing nearest the door. The braced and ledged double door adds structural strength suited to a building this size, providing a wide, rigid entry point for machinery, large tools and equipment.
Construction and materials
The framework uses 70 x 50mm rounded planed CLS timber for a smooth, professional interior. The floor is 22 x 125mm matchboard (finished 19 x 120mm), the roof and door use 16 x 125mm matchboard (finished 12 x 120mm), and the shiplap cladding is 16 x 125mm (finished 12 x 120mm), all double nailed with stainless steel nails. All workshops are fitted with 24kg polyester charcoal felt. The braced and ledged double door opens outwards and is fitted with tee hinges, tamperproof screws, a brenton padbolt and tower bolts. A GATEMATE 70mm long throw 6-pin barrel lock can be added to your basket and fitted at no extra charge.
Sizing, enhancements and installation
This large garden workshop is available in 10 sizes from 10 x 26ft up to 12 x 30ft, with sizes measured as gable end width followed by depth. For a smaller workshop with three windows, take a look at our Besford. Enhancements including increased cladding width, insulation, joinery grade doors and windows can all be discussed. We stock a range of OSMO exterior timber treatment products to help protect and extend the life of the building.
All timber is pressure treated and carries a 15 year guarantee against rot and decay. Complimentary installation is available to customers in B, CV, DY, GL, WR, WV and some HR postcodes. Priced from £7,086.00 to £9,648.00 depending on size, the Hanbury can be ordered online or by visiting our Worcestershire yard.
How does the Hanbury compare to the Besford?
The Hanbury is larger and has more windows. The Besford offers three windows and sizes from 10 x 20ft up to 12 x 25ft, while the Hanbury has four windows and goes from 10 x 26ft up to 12 x 30ft. The Hanbury is the premium, larger option for those needing maximum depth and light.
What does "braced and ledged" mean for the double door?
A braced and ledged door has additional horizontal rails (ledges) and diagonal bracing timbers built into its structure, which prevent the door from sagging or distorting over time. This is particularly appropriate for a large double door on a building of this scale.
How should I maintain a large garden workshop like the Hanbury?
Inspect the roof felt annually and replace it if it shows signs of cracking or lifting. Treat the cladding periodically with a quality exterior wood preservative or stain, and check all door ironmongery each season to ensure everything is in good working order at this scale.
Warranty
All our timber is pressure treated and guaranteed against rot and decay (fungi) for 10 years. To extend the life of your shed further, we recommend treating it with an appropriate exterior preservative per manufacturer guidelines. As authorised OSMO stockists, we recommend their UV Protection Oil, Natural Oil wood stain or Country Colour satin finish range.
Important considerations
Your base must be firm, level and at least the size of the shed floor. We always recommend concrete or slabs. Our installation teams use vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and will need direct vehicle access to your property for several hours. If you're in a controlled parking zone, please arrange a permit in advance. There must be no overhead obstructions such as branches, cables or arches. Please advise us of any issues before production so changes can be made in time.
If the assembly team considers the site unsuitable on the day and you choose to proceed, you accept responsibility for the structural integrity of the building and indemnify Worcester Timber Products against any future issues. If the team must leave before completion for reasons beyond their control, no refunds are applicable and additional charges may be levied.
