Georgian Summerhouse with Veranda Overhang and Opening Windows

The Dodford is a handsome, handmade Georgian summerhouse with a classic apex roof and a 600mm veranda overhang that gives it an architectural presence few garden buildings can match. Designed for work, rest and play, it brings genuine character to any outdoor space, with joinery grade double doors, ornamental ironmongery, a mortice lock and four opening windows, all finished with PERSPEX clear cast acrylic.

The Georgian style nine-pane windows open on traditional stays, giving excellent ventilation and making this a building you can genuinely sit in comfortably across different seasons without the stuffiness that fixed glazing can cause. The doors are fitted with ornamental ironmongery and a mortice lock rather than the standard padbolt and turn buttons used on storage sheds, reflecting the summerhouse positioning of this building. A Georgian summerhouse like the Dodford sits in a different category from a functional shed or even a standard garden room: it's a designed outdoor space that adds visual value to the garden as much as it adds practical value.

Construction and materials

The framework uses 70 x 50mm rounded planed CLS timber for a smooth, professional interior. The floor is 19 x 125mm matchboard (finished 17 x 120mm), the roof and door use 16 x 125mm matchboard (finished 12 x 120mm), and the shiplap cladding is 16 x 125mm (finished 12 x 120mm), all double nailed with stainless steel nails. All buildings are fitted with 24kg polyester charcoal felt. Height varies with roof pitch, with the lowest point approximately 2.1m and the maximum approximately 2.4m.

Sizing, enhancements and installation

This Georgian summerhouse is available in 28 sizes from 12 x 6ft up to 26 x 10ft, with sizes measured as gable end width followed by depth. Enhancements available include internal lining, insulation, guttering, an EPDM roof upgrade and a painting service. Production lead times vary seasonally, so please contact us to discuss before ordering. We stock a range of OSMO timber treatment products to protect and extend the life of the building.

All timber is pressure treated and carries a 10 year guarantee against rot and decay. Complimentary installation is available to customers in B, DY, GL, HR, WR, WV and WS postcodes. For other areas, please contact us to discuss options and any surcharge. Priced from £2,728.80 to £9,308.40 depending on size, the Dodford can be ordered online or by visiting our Worcestershire yard.

What does "nine pane" windows mean?
Each window is divided into nine individual glazed sections in the traditional Georgian style, giving the building its characteristic period appearance and distinguishing it from plain or single-pane shed windows.

Can the cladding be painted?
Yes, the smooth planed shiplap cladding accepts paint well, and a painting service is available as an enhancement if you'd prefer the building to arrive already finished in a chosen colour.

Is self-installation available for the Dodford?
No, unlike some of the simpler shed models in the range, a self-installation option is not available for the Dodford. Please contact us if you're outside the standard installation zones to discuss what options are available.

Warranty

All our timber is pressure treated and guaranteed against rot and decay (fungi) for 10 years. To extend the life of your shed further, we recommend treating it with an appropriate exterior preservative per manufacturer guidelines. As authorised OSMO stockists, we recommend their UV Protection Oil, Natural Oil wood stain or Country Colour satin finish range.

Important considerations

Your base must be firm, level and at least the size of the shed floor. We always recommend concrete or slabs. Our installation teams use vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and will need direct vehicle access to your property for several hours. If you're in a controlled parking zone, please arrange a permit in advance. There must be no overhead obstructions such as branches, cables or arches. Please advise us of any issues before production so changes can be made in time.

If the assembly team considers the site unsuitable on the day and you choose to proceed, you accept responsibility for the structural integrity of the building and indemnify Worcester Timber Products against any future issues. If the team must leave before completion for reasons beyond their control, no refunds are applicable and additional charges may be levied.
