Panel Extension Strip for Decorative Panels
A panel extension strip, also known as a panel packing strip, is used to increase the width of a metric decorative fence panel from 1.8m to 1.83m, the equivalent of a standard 6ft panel. This small but useful strip solves a common fitting problem when metric panels need to sit between posts spaced 6ft apart, or when fitting metric panels above 6ft wide concrete gravel boards.
This panel extension strip is sold as a pair, rough sawn and made from Tanalised, pressure treated FSC certified timber, finished in a pale green colour. Each pair measures 1828 x 45 x 14mm, sized to run the full length of a panel and add just enough extra width to bridge the gap between metric and imperial sizing.
A common question when fitting decorative fence panels is what to do if your post spacing doesn't quite match the panel width. Rather than cutting down posts or panels, a panel extension strip is simply fixed to the edge of the panel to extend it by the small amount needed to fit snugly between existing 6ft posts.
Installation guidance
To fit, each panel extension strip is fixed to the vertical edge of the decorative panel using nails or screws, effectively widening the panel before it's slotted into place between posts. This makes it a quick fix for awkward post spacing without needing to source a different panel size.

Priced at £3.50 per pair, this panel extension strip is available to order online or from our Worcestershire yard.
