Students ‘build’ relationships with Worcester businesses
Sixth form students at Tudor Grange Academy in Worcester are designing and building a sixth form outdoor breakout space as a student project with the help of Worcester Timber Products in Hartlebury.
Worcester Timber Products came to the help of the students who put a call out for local businesses to assist them in this educational and practical project.
The students are converting a rooftop terrace area on the Tudor Grange Academy site into a designated sixth form breakout and café space, called ‘The Loft’.
They designed seating and tables and met with Worcester Timber Products to talk through their ideas. Worcester Timber Products’ team of craftsmen took their plans away and have built and created furniture from timber from the students’ designs, as well as an arch, planters and other landscaping products which are being installed at Tudor Grange this week.
The project marks the launch of the Tudor Grange Academy Worcester Business Partners Programme, a project led by Chair of the Governors at Tudor Grange, Rebecca Widdowson (Managing Partner at Hallmark Hulme Solicitors) . The initiative seeks to involve Worcestershire businesses with the students as a means of helping the students develop their future skills and career path.
Rebecca Widdowson said: “We are delighted to launch our Business Partners Programme with Worcester Timber Products; the team there have been so energetic and positive with our students. Seeing this outdoor space being created is wonderful; it will be a real asset for the students particularly as they have created it and led the project themselves.”
